AFTER CARE
Hair extension care and maintenance is imperative for the health of your natural hair in addition to the longevity of your hair extensions last longer.
A consistent hair extension maintenance regimen will maintain and further extend the life of your hair extensions by a year or more.
For the best results in aftercare, we recommend using the following products as part of your aftercare routine.
BEFORE the extension procedure it is necessary to adhere to the following requirements:
-
Hair needs to be thoroughly washed.
-
Do not pre-treat your hair with nourishing products or hair care products.
-
Hair and scalp should be thoroughly dried by natural air exposure, without the use of a hair dryer.

AFTER extensions are applied, is it recommended that you adhere to the following requirements:
-
Do not excessively comb, run your fingers through your hair, tug or pull the extensions for the first day.
-
Do not wash your hair for at least 2 days allowing beads to set.
-
When washing your hair use warm water, gently spreading shampoo with a stretching-sliding action over your scalp and moisturizing your mid ends - ends with conditioner (OGX Ever Straightening + Brazilian Keratin Therapy Shampoo/Conditioner for those on a budget and Perfect Hair Charcoal Revitalising Shampoo/Conditioner
-
Do not use any oil-based hair products (masks, balms etc.) the roots/ attachments (beads) of your hair - always apply to the mid lengths - ends.
-
To wipe the hair dab with a towel without twisting them in a towel.
-
To dry the hair using a hair dryer, use quick passes and do not hold the hair dryer too close to the hair (if you are using a strong hair dryer you need to put it into middle position). Try to dry hair as little as possible to prolong its life and invest in a good HEAT PROTECTOR /OIL.

WHEN COMBING your hair, it is recommended that you follow this order:
-
Comb your hair only by using a hairbrush designed for hair extensions (brush is supplied with hair purchase).
-
Carefully comb the hair at the ends making your way up to the root of the hair to avoid further tangling.
-
Hair should be gently dried and if bounds are formed, they should be immediately combed, holding up the strand.
-
Use a 5c of nourishing oil to help moisturize your hair while brushing (this helps to keep hair hydrated and minimises snapping /breakage)
-
Spread the hair and comb it in a downward direction starting with the tips and gradually moving upwards

RECOMMENDATIONS for caring for your extensions:
-
Do not perform hair colouring at home. It is recommended to touch up re-growth of hair roots in the salon after your extensions have been removed.
-
Do not use harsh chemicals on hair extensions.
-
Keep extensions hydrated every 2 days (especially ends)
-
Before going to bed the hair should be lightly put in a ponytail using a soft silk hair tie (provided to you at installation) at neck level, or you may use a loosely wound braid.
-
Do not to go to bed with a wet head unless it is neatly braided and secure (this will cause matting)
-
Do not visit a sauna and or solarium without proper hair protection – you should wear a cap that prevents the hair from drying out.
-
When styling you hair extensions, it is recommended that you use heat protectants followed by conditioning masks upon your next wash.
